Waterford Aero Club is now offering a tailored Upset Prevention and Recovery Training course for all General Aviation pilots.
We recognise the confidence gained from learning new skills as a pilot. To build resilience against aircraft upsets, it is valuable for pilots to have upset prevention and recovery training (UPRT). This training helps a pilot promptly recognise, identify and prevent an escalating threat or sensory overload, stopping a potential upset from occurring. Part of this training will therefore include certain stick-and rudder skills like slow flight, stalls, spins, and unusual attitudes.
This training serves to expand your envelope as a pilot. We will build your confidence and skillset through scenario-based flight exercises and pragmatic ground instruction.
Ground Training
Classroom training will include 3 hours of tuition and discussion. This will include revision of principles of flight, aircraft-specific knowledge, and upset prevention techniques.
Flight Training
You will complete 3 hours of flight training in our Cessna 172R and 172SP aircraft. The following exercises will be covered:
- Power off and power on stalls in various aircraft attitudes
- Recovery from incipient and developed spins
- Scenario-based upsets and recoveries at various phases of flight
- Advanced handling skills during takeoff, climbout and landing
This training can also be used as your 1-hour instructional flight.
