During his Commercial Pilot License course at Euro American School of Aviation in Florida, and Multi-Engine Instrument Rating at Aerodynamics, Malaga, Andrew Power kept a flight training diary. You can read from day 0 to skills test right here.

This flight training diary should be useful for any student pilot who are considering a career in commercial aviation. Many people chose to complete sections, or all, of their training overseas and it takes significant research to decide on a flight school. Andrew Power is now a Captain at Cityjet and holds a TRI qualification as well as SEP and FI ratings.

Woke up early this morning to a rainy Florida! Hopefully not for long. I’m at House 7 in Sugar Creek, just waiting to be picked up by the school for my first day. Had some bad weather on the flight yesterday, took a little longer than I thought!   I got the DOTS Shuttle from Daytona…

Commercial Pilot Licence DiaryBy Andrew Power29/09/2010Leave a comment

Well, Americans are really into their weather. They have a “storm” on the way  with winds up to 45 mph. It’s all over the news every day and there’s nothing else on TV. You would think its the end of the world the way it comes across.   So I woke up at 7 am,…

Hi all,   Another successful day today. I logged 1.5 hours, so that brings me up to 3. The weather was bad up to around 1 pm so we didn’t get in the air until 1.30. We did lots in the hour and a half. We took off, climbed to 3500 ft around 3 miles off the…

Hi All, Due to fly at 11 am this morning but the FAA turned up at school for an inspection so that delayed us 40 minutes while Bill went through everything. We got in the air for 11.50 am and started by climbing out to the northeast of the field, did some more steep turns, did…

Commercial Pilot Licence DiaryBy Andrew Power02/10/20102 Comments

Hi everyone, I got up early this morning and went to the flight school and went solo in the Warrior. It gave me a little bit of confidence back as I have not been solo here for 3 years. There was 6 in the circuit – the expression used in Waterford would be “sure boy it was like Heathrow”.…

Day 6 – Ormond Beach, Florida – Delays, and a New Instructor

Commercial Pilot Licence DiaryBy Andrew Power04/10/2010Leave a comment

Hi everyone, A bit of a disappointing 2 days. The instructor yesterday was sick so I didn’t get to fly. This had a knock-on effect for today, therefore I only did a 1.5 hour flight. I was with a new instructor called Elizabeth. She was instructing PPLs when I was here last in November, and since then she now does CPL instruction…
